For the first time in six years, since we started the Toy Drive, we had, not only good weather, but the weather forecast running up to the event was predicting good weather.

Again as the new name suggests we’ve opened up the event to other marques, so we had a really eclectic mix of British, North American, European and Japanese cars on the field. We also had, what we hope is the start of something new, an Italian Vespa Scooter and a Classic British BSA Lightening 650.

Apart from free entry into the park (normally $10) I think everyone that showed up received free coffee/tea/doughnuts/or tarts, and a ticket for one of the 70 or so draw prizes.

Tour Master, Paul Dullaert’s tour of the escarpment was again really well received, with people who lived in the area telling me that Paul had found roads that they didn’t know existed.

Our main entertainment was the Halton Hills Concert Band. These guys are amazing, they played a mix of popular tunes including movie scores, and had the audience singing along and “toe Tapping”. Although our timing was slightly out we even fitted in a 45 minute magic show with Kevin Sobon, again a real treat, for adults and children alike…. who doesn’t like a magic show?

There was an excellent range of food supplied by “Chow Hounds” catering, which again was well received, I can really recommend their Peameal bacon on a bun, and the poutine!

Wendy estimates the value of the toys that we collected to be in the region of $3000 to $4000, and Major Darrell Jackson of the Georgetown Salvation Army has just informed us that we raised a further $1030 in the Collection Kettle!!

If you’re reading this and you were there, thank you!!! Because not only were you party to a good day out, but on Christmas Morning you may well have changed how some less fortunate children in the area will remember Christmas 2017.
If you’re reading this and you weren’t there please plan to join us next year on Sunday October 7th 2018 ( the Sunday before Thanksgiving)

Addendum: 21 November, 2017

“Last week we received an incredibly generous donation of $1032 from the M.G. Car Club Of Toronto.”
